Using the cateogry suggestions for Etsy SEO. Etsy tutorials and tips.

When you categorize an item on Etsy you need to make sure that it’s in the right place so that shoppers can find it. Etsy uses the category and subcategories as “key information” that travels with the listing even if it’s not visible in the tags. The new autofill feature in the listings manager will often give you several choices for categories… If you can find a category to use that autofills with multiple categories it can help your listing be found for more searches.

You’re definitely in a test. I only have the drop down categories, not the search function, though. It’s definitely worthwhile to research “nonstandard” categories, though. I’m getting good views on my travel accessories via Weddings > Gifts & Mementos > Gifts for the couple (bridesmaids, groomsman).

They just announced that the new category selection tool will be rolled out to everyone in the next couple of days, so this was a timely video 😉

Gotcha, I’m always last in line to get the new toys. When they announced they were rolling out direct checkout to “everyone” I didn’t have it until 2 months later.

I think that this is a beta, so they should be rolling it out to the listings manager soon (If I remember correctly, I opted in to have it.) the new version is showing up in one of my shops but not in the other, so they’ll probably be introducing this pretty soon for everyone.
